High altitude training

The video is part of "ICF performance education" - a free online series aimed at coaches, athletes and administrators who wish to expand their knowledge on specific topics to improve their own performance or that of their athletes. Experts from around the world host these sessions online, with the opportunity for the attendees to ask questions which will be answered live at the end of the webinar. The videos are posted online afterwards for those who are unable to attend at the specified day and time. Todays session is on anti-doping education for keeping canoeing clean. Speaker is Dr Nicola Bullock who has 20 years` experience working with high performance coaches and athletes as a Performance Scientist at the Australian Institute of Sport and currently with Paddle Australia. She has worked across an array of sports from the strength and power sports of Skeleton and Bobsled through to the endurance sport of Triathlon. For the last 13 years she has predominately worked with Sprint Kayak including their senior, U18 and Para programs. Areas of professional interest include thermoregulation, altitude, talent transfer and training periodisation and monitoring. Session information: This webinar will cover why you would utilise altitude in sprint kayak and canoe, the highlights and challenges of altitude training and the practical application of altitude across various phases of the training cycle.
