In order to analyse viscoelasticity of the human hip joint in sagittal plain the properties of an experimental setup are introduced. The passiv movement of the leg is driven and controlled by a motor. Thus the kinematic can be given, while the passive joint moment is measured simultaneously. The moment of inertia of the leg and the lever arm as well as the system characteristics of the equipment can be removed by a transfer function of second order with three free parameters, which are fitted specifically for each test subject. Taking this corrections into account the angle dependent and angular speed dependent moment is computed from the raw data, which forms the basis for the description of viscoelastic properties.
