Aktuell werden Zweifel an der Zukunftsfähigkeit der Olympischen Bewegung geäußert. Mit Blick auf die Olympischen Winterspiele wird im Beitrag gefragt, ob das Interesse an Olympischen Spielen schwindet. Dazu wird ein Überblick zu deren bisheriger Entwicklung unter Betrachtung des Wettkampfprogrammes, der Teilnahmezahlen und des Interesses gegeben. Hier werden deutliche Zuwächse verzeichnet, denen die Bereitschaft zur Ausrichtung nicht entspricht. Mit einem kurzen Ausblick wird auf mögliche Folgerungen im Bewerbungsprozess verwiesen. At the moment doubts are expressed about the future viability of the Olympic Movement. With a focus on the Winter Olympics, the article asks if interest in the Olympic Games is dwindling. Furthermore an overview is provided about the previous development of the competition program, the participation numbers and the general interest. In these fields significant increases are recorded which are not matched by the willingness to host the Olympic Games. In a short outlook, reference is made to possible conclusions for the candidature process
